The “Aydın from Past to Present Symposium,” organised in cooperation with the Aydın Governorship and our University and coordinated by the Graduate Schools of Natural and Applied Sciences, Health Sciences, and Social Sciences, concluded with a technical visit held on 15 November 2025. On the final day of the symposium, participants visited the Ancient City of Aphrodisias to examine Aydın’s rich cultural and archaeological heritage on site.
During the technical visit, academics, researchers, graduate students, and invited guests received information from experts about the excavations conducted at the ancient city, its conservation processes, and the historical significance of the region. Participants had the opportunity to observe Aphrodisias’s internationally renowned school of sculpture, monumental structures, and urban fabric on site. The visit contributed to the scientific examination of Aydın’s historical and cultural heritage while strengthening academic interaction among the participants.
The programme represented an important step towards introducing Aydın’s multilayered civilisational heritage, extending from the past to the present, to a broader audience.
