Sağlık Bilimleri Tıbbi Parazitoloji Anabilim Dalı 2006 yılında oluşturulmuştur. Bu Anabilim Dalı Tıp Fakültesi öğretim üyelerini içermektedir. Ülkemizde parazit hastalıkları hem insan hem de hayvan sağlığını tehdit ederek halen önemini korumaktadır. Bu konuda eğitimli insanlar yetiştirilmesi ülkemiz açısından oldukça önemlidir. Anabilim Dalı özellikle ülkemizde önemli olan parazit hastalıklarının (toxoplasmosis, leishmaniasis, echinococcosis, sıtma, trichomoniasis, bağısak parazit infeksiyonları vb) tanısı, epidemiyolojisi ve korunma yöntemlerini geliştirmeyi ve bu bilgilerini diğer bölgeler ile paylaşmayı amaç edinmiştir. Bu amaçla projeler yürütmekte ve epidemiyolojik araştırmalar yaparak kontrol programlarına da destek olmaktadır. Ayrıca zoonozlar parazitolojide önemli yer tutmakta ve bu hastalıklar hem insan hem de hayvan sağlığını tehdit etmektedir. Anabilim Dalı üyeleri ortak çalışmalar ve projelerle zoonotik hastalıklar üzerinde de çalışmalar yürütmektedir.

Kurumun ilkeleri doğrultusunda evrensel ölçütlere uygun bilimsel ürünler vermek.

Sürekli değişen günümüz dünyasında değişimi fark eden, uyum sağlayabilen, öğrenme odaklı, üretken, toplumsal sorunlara duyarlı, çözüm üretebilen, kendi ve çevresi ile barışık gereğinde liderlik yapabilecek, parazitoloji konusuna hakim, özgür araştırmalar yapan, topluma örnek olacak bilim doktoru yetiştirmek.

Department of Medical Parasitology was established in 2006. This program is designed for the individual whose career is oriented to the diagnostic or research laboratory, or to field studies in parasite disease. Graduates of the PhD degree program will be able to: Detect and identify the parasites in clinical specimens, Diagnose the parasitic diseases by employing the suitable techniques Analyze the results of their own research, as well as the research of others reported in literature. Plan and carry out research projects on various aspects of parasitic diseases. Practice the techniques used for research projects and control programs.

Doctor degree

To apply for a doctoral program; Candidates must hold a Master´s degree, or a degree in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, or, for those with degrees in pharmacy and faculty of arts and sciences, an expert certificate in a department of laboratory as approved by Ministry of Health. For health sciences, holders of Bachelor´s and Master´s degrees must possess ALES with the minimum acceptable score on sciences is up to 55. Those holding a degree in medicine must possess either an ALES score on sciences or TUS when applying for a doctoral program in basic medical sciences. Candidates must score at least 50 points in medical sciences when applying to the program with TUS. Among foreign languages such as English, German, French, Italian, etc.t demonstrate proficiency in a language by satisfying one of the following exams; ÜDS, KPDS, TOEFL or equivalent approved by YÖK, and provide the minimum acceptable score is 55. points in ÜDS/KPDS/UÜDS or equivalent for Master´s programs, and 55 language points in ÜDS/KPDS or equivalent for doctoral programs.

Students in PhD program should get: Knowledge of diagnosis of human parasites in clinical specimens, apply novel laboratory technics, Plan and carry out research projects on various aspects of parasitic diseases, Practice the techniques used for research projects and control programs and Analyze the results of their own research, as well as the research of others reported in literature.
