Kimya anabilim dalında 10 profesör, 5 doçent, 1 doktor öğretim üyesi olmak üzere toplam 16 akademik personel bulunmaktadır. Anabilim dalımız, analitik kimya, anorganik kimya, biyokimya, fizikokimya ve organik kimya olmak üzere beş alt anabilim dalından oluşmaktadır. Lisansüstü eğitim programımızın dili Türkçedir. Alt anabilim dallarının her biri için araştırma laboratuvarı mevcut olup, yüksek lisans ve doktora programları için yeterli araştırma imkânları bulunmaktadır. Bu anabilim dallarında çalışma grupları bağımsız ve/veya işbirliği içerisinde çeşitli araştırma projelerini yürütmektedirler. Aydın Adnan Menderes Üniversitesi Kimya bölümü Eğitim-Öğretim açısından güçlü ve tecrübeli bir öğretim kadrosuna sahip, aynı zamanda da araştırma ve yayın sayısı bakımından da Türkiye ortalamasının üstünde bir bölümdür.

Kimya bölümü 1996 yılında kurulmuş ve ilk öğrencilerini 2000-2001 eğitim-öğretim yılında almıştır. İlk mezunlarını 2004 yılında veren bölüm örgün öğretimde hizmet vermektedir.

Misyonumuz; endüstriye nitelikli eleman yetiştirilmesi, özellikle de Avrupa Birliği ile bütünleşme sürecinde kimya endüstrisi ile kimyasal ürünler ve gıda maddelerinin ihracat ve ithalatında kimya bilimine görev düşen alanlarda kimyager yetiştirmek, sadece yurtiçinde değil, uluslararası platformlarda da hiçbir konuda kaliteden ödün vermeyen, yüksek nitelikli-ilkeli öğretim üyesi kadrosuna ve çağdaş alt-yapı ve donanımlara sahip olmak, bu olanaklarla üstün nitelikli ve her platformda rekabete açık iddialı öğrenciler yetiştirmek ve mezunlarını en çok tercih edilenler grubunda en üst sıraya yerleştirmektir. Ayrıca kimya dalında ülkemizin ve dünyanın önemli sorunlarına yönelik araştırma konularına ağırlık vermek, ulusal ve uluslararası ortamlarda vereceği eğitim-öğretim üreteceği bilgi ve teknoloji ile ulusal ve evrensel kalkınmaya katkıda bulunan uluslararası akreditasyon kuruluşlarınca akredite edilebilecek bir bölüm olmaktır.

Vizyonumuz; 21. yüzyılın gerektirdiği bilgi, deneyim ve alt yapı ile donatılmış olan eğitim-öğretim kadrosunun rehberliğinde, çeşitli alanlarda uluslararası düzeyde yaratıcı araştırmalar yapmak, ülkenin geleceği için üstün nitelikli bireyler yetiştirmek, araştırma ve eğitim alanlarındaki birikimi toplum yararına sunmaktır. Diğer yandan Avrupa birliği üye ülkeleri ile Türkiye üniversiteleri arasında öğrenci değişimi programı uygulamaya konduğunda nitelik ve içerikleri itibarı ile daha güncel bir öğretim programının uygulanması ile ulusal ve uluslararası tanınmışlık ve kabul gören bir kimya bölümü olmaktır.

Kimya anabilim dalının amacı, alanındaki temel düzeyde kuramsal ve uygulamalı bilgilere sahip olan, alanı ile ilgili sorunları tanıyabilen ve yorumlayabilen, yaşam boyu öğrenmeye açık olan ve mesleki bilgi ve becerilerini sürekli olarak yenileyebilen mezunlar verebilmektir.

Anabilim dalımızda bilimsel araştırmalar için 9 adet araştırma laboratuvarı ve 1 adet cihaz laboratuvarı bulunmaktadır.

Yüksek lisans ve doktora tez çalışmalarının yürütülmesi için gerekli cihazlar ve araştırmalarda kullanılan cihazların bir kısmı anabilim dalımızdaki araştırma laboratuvarlarında mevcuttur. Ayrıca Aydın Adnan Menderes Üniversitesi Bilim ve Teknoloji araştırma ve Uygulama Merkezinde bulunan cihazlar bölüm elemanlarının kullanımına açıktır.

Chemistry masters degree program consist of six semester programme.

The Master's Degree in Chemistry awarded to the graduates who have successfully fulfilled all programme requirements

The applicants who hold a Bachelor's Degree and willing to enroll in the Master's programme should have sufficient score (at least 55 out of 100) from the Academic Staff and Graduate Study Education Exam (ALES) conducted by Student Selection and Placement Center (OSYM) or other scores equivalent to ALES score of 55. Applicants should also have related documents written in announcement. The applicants should provide following documents due to last application date: Bachelor's Degree diploma, transcript, score document from ALES/TUS or equivalent exams. The assessment for admission to masters programs is based on : 50% of ALES or TUS, 20% of academic success in the undergraduate programmeand 30% of interview grade. The candidates having an assessed score of 60 at least are accepted into the Master's programme.

The rules for recognition of formal prior learning are well defined. A student who is currently enrolled in a Master's Degree programme in the same discipline at another institution and has successfully completed at least one semester, upon submitting all required documents before the deadline, may transfer to the Master's Programme at Adnan Menderes University upon the recommendation of the department administration and with the approval of the Administrative Committee of the Graduate School. The decision taken will also include eligibility for exemption from some course requirements of the graduate program.

The programme consists of courses delivered within the graduate programme of the department and in related fields, one seminar course, and thesis, with a minimum of 21 local credits. The seminar course and thesis are non-credit and graded on a pass/fail basis. The total ECTS credit of the programme is 120 ECTS. Students are required to take a mid-term examination and/or complete other assigned projects/homework during the semester and, additionally, are required to take a final examination and/or complete a final project for course evaluation. The final grade is based on the mid-term examination grade, the final examination grade and/or evaluation of final project, with the contributions of 40% and 60%, respectively. In order to pass any course, a Master's student must receive at least 70 out of 100. Students must repeat courses they have failed or may substitute courses the Department accepts as equivalent. Students must register for thesis work and the Specialization Field course offered by his supervisor every semester following the semester, in which the supervisor is appointed. A student, who has completed work on the thesis within the time period, must write a thesis, using the data collected, according to the specifications of the Graduate School Thesis Writing Guide. The thesis must be defended in front of a jury. The Master's thesis jury is appointed on the recommendations of the relevant Department Chairperson and with the approval of the Administrative Committee of the Graduate School. A majority vote by the jury members determines the outcome of the thesis or examination. The vote can be for "acceptance", "rejection" or "correction".
